A healthy lifestyle is coveted by so many people, but what exactly does a healthy lifestyle encompass?  And is it even feasible for everyday people to lead the idealistic healthy lifestyle glamorized by the media?  Fortunately, there are simple ways to lead a healthy lifestyle and incorporating just one can provide immediate positive effects.

Drink More Water

It doesn’t get simpler than this!  Staying hydrated gives all of your bodily systems the essential water they need to work effectively.  Drinking more water will actually help the body rid itself of toxins and excess bloating.  Make a habit of filling up a 32 oz (1 liter) reusable bottle in the morning with the goal of finishing it by dinner time.

Eliminate Processed Foods

The human body was born to digest natural, real foods.  Eliminating processed foods and replacing them with fruits and vegetables will get the digestive system rolling, thus leaving you feeling clean and lean.

Get Moving

Sitting sedentary all day signals the entire body to slow down.  Digestion slows, circulation slows, metabolism slows.  Moving keeps the body vibrant, young, and working efficiently.  Additionally, any sort of movement burn calories.   When calorie burning is combined with a healthy diet weight loss will ensue.

Lose Weight

Not just for cosmetic reasons, but to avoid the proven health risks associated with excess weight.  Heart disease, high blood pressure, and even cancer are linked to even just an extra 10 pounds.

Don’t Worry…

A healthy lifestyle is more than just eating right and exercise, a healthy lifestyle is also a state of mind.  Stress is a part of everyday life and how the mind responds to stress is crucial.  Isolate stressful situations and decide on a solution.

…Be Happy

Sometimes happiness is a decision that needs to be made.  Life isn’t perfect, so instead of dwelling on imperfections, focus on positivity.  Be thankful for the good things in life and dream to make those imperfections a little bit better.

Soul Search

What exactly provides happiness?  Answer that question and be sure to incorporate the answer into life, even in a small way.  Soul food is an essential ingredient in leading a truly healthy lifestyle.

Balance

Work, family, friends, self, money—all an essential part of life, and must be appropriately balanced.    Find your balance and make time for the aspects of life that provide the most happiness.

Leading a healthy lifestyle really is simple.  Just a few lifestyle changes and a few mental tweaks can lead to the healthy lifestyle that is so desired.  Achieving a healthy lifestyle is a process.  Incorporating one piece at a time will undoubtedly yield positive effects.
