Do At Least One Thing Everyday

September 23, 2015 Michelle Homan 26 Comments

Wild Workout WednesdayWelcome to our Wild Workout Wednesday link up! Each week I link up with Annmarie from The Fit Foodie Mama, Angelena Marie from Angelena Marie: Happy, Healthy & Balanced, and Nicole at Fitful Focus to bring you workout ideas, motivation, inspiration and recipes to try. Join us for a wild workout each week by reading along or grab the button and link up if you have a fitness or healthy living post to share!

I had a hard time brainstorming for today’s post, because honestly, I’m coming off a big race with no athletic goals on the horizon. That’s totally fine with me–I’m okay with ebbs and flows–but I’d feel awkward putting together a HIIT workout that I’m justĀ not really into myself.

So I thought long and hard about how to be honest with myself and my readers about where I am right now.

I started to browse the archives of fruitionfitness.com–the posts from waaaay back before I even knew what bloggingĀ was–and found something so perfect from June, 2012. The post was titledĀ One Thing,Ā and the only content was an amateur graphic I think I might have made in MS Paint and the link to the graphic was actually broken.

The post (if I could even call it that!) was practically begging for a revival, fit perfectly into my lifeĀ right now, and was something I thought everyone could benefit from.

Here’s the updated graphic:

One thing

Do at least one thing…everyday that makes you stronger happier healthier wiser

I can honestly say to myself and my readers thatĀ this is my goal right now.Ā I don’t have a race on my schedule and I’m not overly concerned about my core. Fitness my not be my number one priority right now, but doing at least one thing everydayĀ should always be a priority.Ā

Make a commitment to do at least one thing everyday! #sweatpink #goals #balance

So sometimes goals don’t always need to be a race or a fitness achievement. Sometimes it’s okay to have a goal toĀ just be better everyday.Ā This is where I am right now, and I’m just fine with it, as long as I make a commitment with myself toĀ do at least one thing everyday.

Do your fitness goals always focus on a race?

I definitely think that one of the best ways to have balance in all aspects of your life is to have something for you each day (otherwise you get lost!). Physically, I try to have at least 30 minutes every day that I am active, and actively engaged on being active!

Yes! Even if it’s a little something, and definitely being aware enough to appreciate it!

I have been so busy lately that I haven’t really focused on anything other than my current goal but there are definitely things outside of my fitness life that could use some attention! šŸ™‚

I always have another fitness goal after a race — my goal race this summer was two weekends ago, and now I have a just-for-fun half marathon then will be back to focusing on getting more flexible and stronger with weights and yoga šŸ™‚

I always have a lull after a big race, but now I’m also preparing to move so fitness is kind if taking a back seat. Just for now šŸ˜‰

I love this quote! I always find myself in a bit of a slump after reaching a big goal, but I let myself take a little break and then I find a new goal to work toward šŸ™‚

This is a good reminder. I know sometimes when I am done with a race I ask myself, “Now what?!” That is when I sometimes go back to basics and also work on recovery options.

Love this! Such a great reminder that we sometimes just need to focus on better ourselves however we need to in the moment. I’m seriously struggling with my marathon training. I just want to run for fun, and I’m not having any fun. I will keep this in mind as I go into my long run this weekend. Even if it’s not the best run I’ve ever had, I’ll be joyful that I’m out there bettering myself.

I just had a re-evaluation with my physical therapist a couple of weeks ago. She asked what my goals were and was kind of shocked when I had zero races planned. IT’s so not me! My #1 goal is to get back to running. After 5 months off with an injury, I can’t think of racing. I can only think of fixing what’s wrong and building a stronger body. The rest is just icing on the cake.

I totally don’t have a goal right now…and it actually feels good! I ran a half last month that didn’t go so well and decided to step back from “training.” Now I’m running for fun, feeling good and enjoying every mile. It’s great!

Be your best you for each individual day.

I’m not a runner but my strength has always been in my legs. My “goal” is to increase upper body strength (how much, I don’t know).

There was a time when basically everything physical and most nutrition centered around running. Now I’m enjoying a wonderfully delightful balance. I’m happier and my body loves it.

    Have a wonderful weekend Michelle.
