So much fun today…let me break it down in list format for you!
- First things first…you may have noticed fruitionfitness.com got a little face lift! I’ve been planning a small redesign for some time now, and realized that since I am a one woman show I will need to roll it out in phases–as opposed to an ‘re-launch’ type unveiling. So please bear with me as I will continue to make tweaks that bring you the best experience possible!

- And third…I have a giveaway for you! Read on for details!
Now on to the fun!
One of the biggest challenges of being a #motherrunner is the lack of emphasis on recovery. In fact, my recovery is often non-existent if the kids meet me at the door after a run. So I need strategies in place to help me sneak in recovery while also being there for my kids.
Prepared with Protein
I’ve gotten into a great routine this summer with whipping up quick protein packed smoothies in my Ninja. I always have frozen bananas stashed in the freezer, almond milk in the fridge, and lately Bob’s Red Mill Protein Powders so I can feel good about giving the kiddies some smoothie action as well. In a pinch though, I always have a shaker cup available for a liquid + protein quick fix. I’ve also been practicing a Paleo lifestyle and (usually) have my house stocked with protein and healthy carbohydrates, like sweet potatoes.
Managing Muscle Recovery
Herein lies the problem in my life. After a run, my plans are to just keep going. So the ideal of resting, icing, and elevating for recovery are just a dream. But the one thing I can give to my leg muscles is compression. It’s a tough thought during the summer (especially this one) to think about getting into compression gear after a hard run, but compression calf sleeves make it manageable. My friends at BrightLife Go just sent me these awesome CEP Calf Sleeves and they are perfect for my recovery needs. {these are the Hawaii Blue-Pink color!}
The oppressive humidity here in New York just broke and getting these on after a run while I’m doing chores around the house (or even running errands!) has been so refreshing for my calves. Even if I’m running around with my kids, when I take off the sleeves I feel as if I’ve been elevating all day. Visibly decreased swelling, decreased soreness, and more benefits that can’t immediately be seen or felt.
Calf sleeves work for me too since I am totally a flip flop (or no shoes at all!) type of girl, so the sleeves let my toes be free while targeting compression where I need it the most.
You want a pair you say? Well lucky you! I have a giveaway going on courtesy of BrightLife Go for your very own CEP Progressive+ Calf Sleeves (your choice of color!). So easy to enter using the Rafflecopter below!

I’ve been wanting to try CEP compression for a while now! And I need some new sleeves. Usually I use full socks for recovery and sleeves for during the run (if I am using them), but we’ve all seen that I also have a tendency to wear the sleeves under fancy dresses, lol
I love to wear the sleeves during the run too, but I just haven’t been able to in this heat. Can’t wait for fall running!
I prefer compressions socks over sleeves. Those are super cute, tho!
Thanks! Maybe I’ll renew my love for socks this winter!

I am sure I will be pulling mine out again as the long runs come back in the fall. Super cute colors

Yay for compression! You know I’m a Pro Compression girl for life but I’ll admit these sleeves are cute.
I couldn’t resist these colors!
I tend to wear compression socks and sleeves more in the winter, I guess cause then I’m doing more miles but it’s a great recovery tool anytime! Thanks for the giveaway and the link up!
Me too. I tend to forget about them in the summer for obvious reasons!
I haven’t started using compression socks/sleeves for recovery. But I’ve heard good things about using this type of product and I would like to .
I wasn’t a believer until I started using them! Good luck!
oooo I do want a pair! I have been avoiding my compression socks due to the heat, as well. Sleeves would be much better, so I can let my toes be free!
Sleeves are just barely manageable right now. Inside. In the air conditioning. Lol. I do love them for fall running though also.
I use compression more while I’m running than for recovery. Sleeves all the way though…I have big feet, so compression socks that fit don’t really provide much compression for my calves.
yes i love compression sleeves! I use them for long runs and while i sleep.
That’s great! Good luck!
I totally agree with calf sleeves. I love my compression socks during the winter, though. They keep my tootsies warm, too. 🙂 Haha.
Love love love Brightlife Go and CEP! Great giveaway!
I love the colors
Thanks!! Me too 😄
I love compression sleeves! I actually prefer sleeves over full socks because I don’t like having my toes all mushed together. These blue and pink babies are adorable!!! I don’t notice feeling “hot” in them, even in the summer heat….I get more of a cooling effect from them.
I need my toes free too! Maybe I’ll give them a try on my run today…so traumatized from the summer heat wave 😂
This aging body does just about anything to aid in recovery, including compression! I also like to ride my bicycle for recovery, a nice easy ride to get the blood moving into the leg muscles. I wish dessert was a recovery tool!
I’m with you on the dessert Jeffrey!
I have a pair of compression pants that I sometimes wear after running.
Tights are nice for the winter!
I like compression for recovery but also when exercising.
I would love to try. Maybe they would help with swelling? Thanks!
They definitely help with swelling!
I want to try compression to see if it helps with my shin splints
I think they would definitely improve the pain from shin splints!
Yes! I wear CEP socks to run (except in the heat) and for recovery. I’ve been loving the CEP Ultra Lite sleeves for summer, too!
I’ll have to look into the ultra lites…doesn’t seem like the heat is going away anytime too soon!
The pair looks great. There are different color for men, right? Thank you for sharing it!
