So my season started March 1st. It just happened that way. It might’ve actually been February 29th, but anyway, that was when I decided to kick it into serious mode. Starting that week I was super prepared when it came to meal planning and didn’t waiver all week.
I rewarded myself with a Sunday Runday Funday 🙂
Slightly spontaneous, I set out solo while the kiddies were out having grandparent day fun. Sans Garmin (dead as a doornail from months of inactivity), I tucked my phone into my Flipbelt for MapMyRun data. When I never heard from MapMyRun girl, I knew I would have to come to grips with a statless run. The weather was so perfect, and I actually felt so great, that I didn’t really care (well, not that much). Also, when for the split second I attempted to fix MapMyRun (make sure location services and background app refresh is on!) my phone died.
No stats and no pictures…I’m afraid no one will actually believe it happened!
I know it happened. I know it was about 4 hilly miles. And I know I felt pretty great. Of course I would have loved to know my paces, I also know this will not be my last run.
Short term I have the Run for Aspire 10k on April 2.
Mid term I would love to compete in the Carl Hart Mother’s Day Duathlon May 8
Long term I would love to do a tri again this summer…possibly Jamesport or Smith Point
Longer term I’m feeling the need to feed my love/hate relationship with full marathons and have my eyes on the Hamptons Marathon
Notice how many of those statements included I would love to, and clearly that means I have not signed up for those yet. I’m not into dropping money on races I can’t commit to, so once the season gets going and life becomes a little more clear–I’ll get back to you 😉
But for now nutrition is rockin’ and training is starting to take shape. I have some sort of a tentative racing schedule, and I’m pretty sure we are done with snow.
This is where I’m at!
Where are you at right now?
Linkup below if you have a workout, fitness find or healthy recipe to share! Just make sure to link back or grab the badge and we will make sure to spread the inspiration around 🙂
Also linking up with Jill Conyers for Fitness Friday!

I think it’s great that you really consider each race before jumping in and signing up for all the races. (I often do that) oops. I’d love to do a Du this year if I can find one. I have the Cherry Blossom 10 miler in 3 weeks yikes! Thanks for the link up!

I’ve been there and done that with races…older and wiser now!
Hooray for a fabulous run! Sunday really was perfect for it and a great way to kick off your training season!

It was definitely a positive note!
I could use a tech-less run! Maybe I’ll go on one tonight! They’re so freeing.
No stats AND no pictures?! There’s no way this run happened. I’m sorry, you’ll have to redo it. Hahah 😉 Nice job, lady!

Way to rock the run sans technology!
It sounds like you are getting a solid start on your race year!
I was just thinking about finding some other races for the year. With 1 race solidly finished I feel I can actually think about some more. As my hip continues to get stronger I can actually run more than a 5k!
Now that my training is solid, I need to get my nutrition back on point!
