It’s definitely a rebuilding period for me, but where to begin? It occurred to me that everything starts with a strong root system–in other words–legs.

Build strength from the ground up with this workout! #sweatpink #fitfluential

Legs can be deceivingly strong, but overlooked weaknesses, instability, and compensation starting with the leg muscles can lead to other injuries, such as back or hip pain. Training the legs to be a strong base is the logical place to start when looking to rebuild strength from the ground up.

Recently I’ve found myself breaking into spontaneous bursts of lunges. Sometimes alone. Sometimes weighted by small (and not so small!) children that attach themselves to me. I’ve embraced the clinginess and taken the little one on rides of squats which she seems to love--it’s a win-win!

This workout, however, is designed for body weight only. Quick and effective. Repeat rounds for an added challenge.

I’ve made the mistake of avoiding my lower body in terms of strengthening and I’m paying the price. I’m definitely going to focus more on my legs and glutes during my off season this time around!
