This is a very exciting Friday for me–I’m publishing 2 posts! I’m still not sure if that’s a good idea or not, but I’m just going to go with it!
In addition to my regular Friday recipe, I just happened to have 5 things I wanted to share about Tough Mudder. And when you have 5 things to share, the place to be is linking up with the Friday Five over at Courtney at Eat Pray Run DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What and Mar at Mar on the Run!
When the mud was over, and I successfully survived Electroshock Therapy, I wanted to take some shots that would capture the day. I knew my action shots (provided free by Game Face Media) wouldn’t be ready until sometime the following week, so I clicked away and just happen to end up with 5 images I want to share.
You may recognize these Newtons from my previous post where I gushed about them and almost cried about having to get a new pair. Well, don’t worry because this is the last time you will ever see a picture of them ever again. This was the perfect going out party for them and I had no qualms about tossing them!
Might be a little hard to see in this picture, but the raw spots on my hands represented me crushing the Funky Monkey Bars. Never in a million years did I think I could ever get across, but these hands (and every other muscle in my body) got me there!
I think this may have been the first time I ever had Beef Jerky, but we were allowed to take two bags as we crossed the finish area–I ate two bags. They were so good, all natural, and packed with protein for recovery.
Speaking of recovery, the Shock Top party area was awesome. I could’ve been at any outdoor beer garden, except everyone was covered in mud and wearing orange headbands. They had seasonal (pumpkin in August?!), Summer Wheat, and this awesome Pretzel brew that was so interesting, but just too strong for post race refreshment. We indulged in the Summer Wheat as we sat around recounting our stories.
5. And, this guy. Yep, this is the husband. The one we made the guinea pig for all the obstacles. The one I never doubted would complete them all. The one who believes in me sometimes way more than I believe in myself. I love this shot of him just sitting around, talking to my brother about who knows what obstacle.
Now that the Tough Mudder high is coming down, it’s time to refocus back to my marathon training. I of course have another race this weekend, throwing a wrench in the training plan, but I’ll adjust!
Who drinks pumpkin beer in August?!
Ever have beef jerky for recovery?

I love pumpkin beer but it needs to be cooler outside for it to work for me. I’d be with you on the summer wheat.

Yeah, almost ordered seasonal thinking it was Summer Ale! I’m a huge pumpkin fan, just not yet!
Sounds like quite a race! Your husband is a good sport and that’s great that he has sich confidence in you!
