5 Favorite Fall Foods

October 16, 2015 Michelle Homan 16 Comments

One of the best parts of fall is FOOD–the oh so warm and seasonal dishes that make us welcome in the cooler weather. The recipes have been rolling in for about a month now, but really here on Long Island, the temps are just starting to dip down into fall territory. So it’s time–time to round up my top 5 favorite fall foods.

Fall Foods

1. Everything Pumpkin

Yes. Everything. Pumpkin bread, pumpkin brownies, pumpkin muffins, and of course pumpkin coffee (drinks are included on my list–see #5!). Check out this great pumpkin recipe round up here.

2. Sunday Chili

Chili on any day is really great, but there is nothing like putting chili in the slow cooker on a Sunday morning in preparation for a day of football. Chili is so super simple and versatile, but I am looking forward to trying some new and exciting chili recipes this season!

3. Roasted Vegetables

I absolutely love the taste of roasted vegetables. Not only does the roasting bring out amazing flavors, but it’s so easy (put them in the oven and leave them there!) and they are great for meal prep too. I often make a huge batch and add them to everything during the week. Salads, pastas, chili, rice–they basically go with anything. My fall favorite roasted veggies are cauliflower, zucchini, and asparagus.

4. Hot Oatmeal

I feel like oatmeal may not be sexy, but I love this warm breakfast on cool fall mornings. Customizing oatmeal is so fun, and it makes for a satisfying breakfast. One of my favorite oatmeal hacks is to add a teaspoon of natural creamy peanut butter and a splash of vanilla almond milk for a creamy delicious breakfast.

5. Red Wine

You know what pairs well with red wine? FALL. I feel like this might have been part of a previous Friday Five list of mine, but hey–fall doesn’t get much better than this list and red wine is a huge part of it!

My favorite fall foods all in one post! #FoodieFriday #FridayFive

Seriously, all of my favorite fall foods too! Sad I can no longer have red wine (or chili because of the tomatoes) but I am determined to find something to substitute them!

Nothing like a slow cooker chili. The smell of it all day and then the taste at the end. Roasted vegetables are great as well. I love warm fall foods. Have a great weekend!

Very true! For some reason I associate the flavors of red wine with the fall and icy cold beer with the summertime!
